SUMMARY:


Bishop Gutiérrez calls all clergy to our 2023 Annual Clergy Conference at Camelback Resort in the Poconos. We are excited to welcome The Rev. Dr. Mark Bozzuti-Jones as a guest facilitator at clergy conference. This year’s conference will be in person at Camelback Resort in the Poconos. Clergy who are unable to attend for the entire event must contact the Bishop. A full schedule of the events will be provided soon. Clergy should plan to arrive by Monday afternoon. The event will close with Noonday Prayer on Wednesday. Registration closes April 12th, 2023.

BACKGROUND on The Rev. Dr. Mark Bozzuti-Jones


The Rev. Dr. Mark Francisco Bozzuti-Jones is an Episcopal priest at Trinity Church Wall Street in New York City. He served as director for Pastoral Care and senior clergy for partnerships in Latin America and the Caribbean. Presently, he serves as the Priest and Director for Spiritual Formation at Trinity Retreat Center in West Cornwall, CT.

He is Jamaican and a former Roman Catholic Jesuit priest. Fr. Mark has a wide range of experience, including 14 years of Jesuit training and work as a missionary in Belize, Brazil, and Guyana. Mark is fluent in Portuguese. He is an avid reader, author, and seasoned public speaker, and has taught at elementary and university levels.

Fr. Mark’s intellectual interests include the impact of social issues on faith and spirituality, race relations, the economic plight of the poor in Third World countries, and liturgical renewal with a focus on openness to diversity and recognizing the gifts of children. He enjoys poetry and music of all kinds. “Questions, poetry, stories, and sitting in silence and darkness make me live and bring me hope,” he says.

He is an award-winning author; recent books include God Created, Jesus the Word, The Gospel of Barack Hussein Obama According to Mark, The Rastafari Book of Common Prayer, Absalom Jones: America’s First Black Priest (2021) and Face to the Rising Sun: Reflections on Spirituals and Justice (2021).
